I noticed te sample one in the book uses lightning damage so i can't tell if the element you pick is in addition to the lightning damage listed under immunities or not. Good Question! The graveknight gets immunity to lightning damage normally. It can select lightning for Ruinous Revivification, which doesn't give it an additional immunity it's already immune to lightning but does factor into other abilities, like Devastating Blast.
I'm sorry to say this but just in the sample file, I'm seeing a number of mistakes. The intro page uses a comma instead of a semi colon and the Angel of Death has 2 'in' in the stat block. I'm not seeing a credit section stating this has an editor and proofreader assigned to it, let alone where the art came from.

The complete Book of the Damned radiates a permanent unhallow effect in a foot radius and a sympathy effect tuned to attract all evil creatures. Any creature of good alignment that willingly touches the tome must succeed at a DC 20 Fortitude save or be immediately slain.
