Also use a high quality jig saw such as a Bosch. I would not ever consider using my Ryobi pictured on right to perform this task as it is too far from accurate. Poor quality tools can make or break a project. Step 10 Use the right blades for your jig saw. If they can cut paper cleanly….

By using the right tools, for the right job, your finished result will work, look and perform as intended. Both of these pods required custom cutting and mounting. Nav Pod Installation Tips. This dirty hole is rough and tore the paper because the drill was started in forward..

Protective Base vs. The Finished Result By using the right tools, for the right job, your finished result will work, look and perform as intended. Be patient, use the right tools and techniques and the project will go smoothly. PowerPods are better than bracket mounting. PowerPods provide the clean look of flush mounting with the advantages of a swivel base. NavPods are made to protect your marine electronics from the harshest of wet boating conditions.

All NavPods are manufactured with a double gasket system that provides an excellent watertight seal. This provides plenty of room for running wires and connectors through the base to conceal them from the elements.

This provides protection for wires and connectors from water intrusion, UV exposure or damage from getting snagged or ripped out of their sockets. All NavPods come with a security wrench and nickel chrome-plated stainless steel tamper-resistant screws for protection from theft.

PowerPod pre-cut models are available for 7" through 16" displays from all major marine electronics manufacturers. NavPod backs up their commitment to quality by offering a year warranty on all Gen3 NavPods.

PowerPods: Protection, Convenience, Security. RailMounts are comprised of a NavPod that rotates on a Stainless Steel arm designed for mounting on the side of a pedestal guard. Stanchion Kits are a very strong, sturdy and secure way to mount electronics on the dash or in the overhead area. All Stanchion Kits include two mirror polished grade stainless steel tubes with 1.

Kits also include stainless steel feet and mounting hardware. The stanchion tubes are pre-drilled for easy installation of a compatible NavPod. If your template is too big bring it to Staples or Kinko's and have it photo copied onto heavy weight card stock.

Always be sure measure the hole centers after you print out a template to double check the proper scaling and to ensure the proper template size. Step 2 Use a heavy weight card stock for the template! I can not stress this enough it is very important that you use a heavy weight paper as it will not get twisted up in the drill, hole saw or jig saw.

Step 3 Center, align and securely tape your template, after trimming to size, to the face of the NavPod. Brad point drills have a very sharp center tip and also make very clean cuts at teh outer edge of the hole. One tip to make the cut even smoother is to cut through the outer layer of NavPod with the drill running in reverse! If you don't brad points please do yourself favor and buy them!

Be careful and use the right tools! You'll thank me for this tip when drilling through gelcoat as well. This "dirty" hole is rough and tore the paper because the drill was started in forward mode! Here is the same diameter hole made using the same brad point bit only this time I started the cut with the drill in reverse mode not forward. You'll notice that it did not even tear the paper. If it can make this clean of a cut in paper it will make a very, very clean cut in the surface of your NavPod or gelcoat or teak or what ever surface you decide need a hole in it.
