Simon Booth. Simon Booth Across the life cycle of this epic track, atmospherics build up a presence, under which a riff tries to emerge, but soon breaks down, mutates and corrupts until the atmospherics defeat it and peace is restored - but then a metamorphosis, the riff returns and punches through!

Unleashed at last, fully formed and monstrous, it rampages like Godzilla, smashing and scorching and exulting in its power.

Kevin Ice. This is the case in terms of moods and tones most of the time. Also, one aspect of Bliss Torn From Emptiness which sounds different to me is the attitude the music portrays.

It appears to be quite aggressive. Which is something new to me when it comes to Nadja because usually, they are a band who create dream like sounds and wrap their essence around the listeners body, taking them on an out of body experience into the deep realms where music and space collide with great force. The concept of Nadja is both complex and simple at the same time. Juxtaposition is something Nadja are used to. Using simplistic music at times to create intricate soundscapes that weave in and out of one another like a needle and a thread.

Nadja used distorted low guitars to portray the emotion behind the record when it was initially made. One of the greatest aspects about Nadja's work is the sense of heart and purpose that has gone into creating what is laid in front of the listener. The music is ambitious and packs a huge punch.

Guitars that seem to scream at you due to it's highly distorted nature. An ambience so satisfying that you could only find it in the wind that blows through a desolate landscape. That howling noise that has the ability to both soothe the soul and create an eerie sound unlike anything you've ever heard before. Much like nature itself, Nadja possess a talent of being able to switch from one mood to the next.

This shows fantastic compositional skills, along with immense songwriting abilities. Throughout the entire Bliss Torn From Emptiness full-length, the listener is always graced by a feeling that the music has a purpose. That it is going somewhere beautiful and that it wishes to take you with it.

This gives the listener a feeling of being special. The music compliments the senses and drives them wild with desire. There is never a time when you become bored of what you're hearing. Bliss Torn From Emptiness contains enough variation, particularly in atmosphere, that it never becomes tedious and never grates of the nerves of the listener. When the crescendo finally comes around, you'll not even notice how long it's taken to come by.

In fact, it will seem like a mere few minutes, when in actual fact, this is one hell of an epic song. Attempting to write your first super long song must be a real challenge. Sure, previous to this Nadja had written some pretty lengthy tunes Amniotic clocking in at 21 minutes, among others but when writing a 49 minute long tune there's a lot more to consider.

So while there has to be plenty of satisfaction for the listener throughout the song, people have to be left wanting that little bit more and so on and so forth. It's kind of obvious, then, that writing super long songs must be a real struggle, and recording it would be an absolute bitch too. Luckily, Baker seems to be up to the challenge.
